Merseyside Women of the Year Arts and Culture Award 2016

Kathryn is thrilled to have received a Merseyside Women of the Year Arts & Culture Award sponsored by David M Robinson. The uplifting awards ceremony celebrating the achievements of women across Merseyside took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool on Friday 24th June 2016.

The purpose of the Merseyside Women of the Year Awards is to reward the unsung heroines of Merseyside for their achievements in doing what they do best, changing lives and giving that extra meaning to people’s lives across Merseyside. Annually the judging panel spend considerable time deliberating to ensure that only the most deserving are selected as finalists. Each year, the event also helps to raise money for the Merseyside Women of the Year Legacy Awards and Radio City Cash for Kids. Jean Gadsby of Gadsbys accountants and Ellie Kerr & Elaine Owen from Designated a digital marketing company are the organisers and facilitators of the awards events.

"The award recognised Kathryn’s singing achievements, including her current work as a BBC New Generation Artist and also being nominated in the Young Artist category of the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards 2016. Kathryn was also selected for her work in music in the community in Liverpool. She champions the Mersey Wave Music community project which runs a community choir and young singers group. Kathryn is involved in teaching and performing with the groups in community concerts in St. Ambrose Parish Church in Speke, Liverpool. The project which is bringing live music into the heart of the community has enriched people’s lives and has been a resounding success with a 70 strong community choir and audiences of over 400 attending the concerts."
